What Causes Adult Acne?
Acne can be caused by a number of things. Obviously, there are hormonal factors, which cause adolescent acne, but can also cause problems for adults, particularly pregnant women or those who have recently started taking a contraceptive pill. On the other hand, it is recognized that diet and hygiene can play a major role in acne. Subsequently, small alterations can be all that is required to treat adult acne.
Adult Acne Home Treatment: The Simple Measures
There are a number of very simple things that everybody should adopt as part of a daily routine for better skin condition. The first of these is to drink more water. Water is crucial to healthy skin and, ideally, you should be aiming to drink 8 glasses everyday. This will help to de-tox the skin of oil and bacteria that can cause blockages in the skin’s pores.
It is also wise to ensure plenty of exercise, as sweating is good for the health of the skin. That said, it is important to wash thoroughly after physical exercise. Which leads nicely onto the third simple measure that should be taken: cleanse the skin at least twice a day. You should aim to wash your face with a mild soap in the morning and at night. It is best not to exceed three washes per day, as this can dry the skin, which will cause it to produce more oils.
Adult Acne Home Treatment: Foods That are Good for the Face
There are certain foodstuffs that make good facial masks. It may seem peculiar, but many adult acne sufferers swear by them.
Try mixing a couple of tablespoons of baking soda with just a few drops of water, which will create a thick paste. Baking soda is known to have anti-inflammatory properties and is often used on insect stings and bites. However, it can also be used to great affect on pimples, reducing the redness and inflammation of the spots.
Oatmeal is a firm favorite and can be used as a facial mask or a cleansing scrub. Mix the oatmeal with warm water until you have a thick paste. Place this mixture onto your face for approximately 15 minutes. Then, remove the oatmeal by rinsing with warm water, but finish with a cold water rinse, as this enables the pores to contract.
Another great adult acne home treatment is a honey and apple mask. Similar to the oatmeal mixture, place some grated apple into some honey (a small amount of honey will go far, so do not use too much) and place it onto the face. Leave for between 15 and 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
These are just some of the adult acne home treatments that you may like to consider. Remember, they are all inexpensive and natural ways to combat acne that are well worth trying.
